Inspired by watching my mother cut and sew same coloured blocks from what she had. She would stack them up until she had enough to sew together for a blanket top. She had a good eye for color, but loved to use 'like' colors for a monochromatic look. She did this with both sewing and crochet. She always used second hand fabrics and we simply called them 'patches'.
The pattern is traditionally pieced and written using 5/8 yard cuts.
